Marko – agree about Green Spot (recommended by The Edge while sitting across the bar from him – Octagon Bar – claim to fame …), but can’t find it here in the states.

Redbreast will definitely be high on the list. It’s amazing how a slight cut will radically change a whiskey. I agree with what you say about Jameson’s. But add ice or cut with a splash of water and regular ol’ Jameson’s gains a rich, slightly fruity character. And the blended version, drop the fruit and add caramel. If you can wrangle a Rarest Reserve – no cut necessary and as good a whiskey as you could want. hmmmm … maybe I’m just a shill for the lads from Midleton.

This cracked me up. You review Irish Whiskey and leave out Middleton, which is like doing a review of soda and leaving out Coke. Then you don’t even mention Redbreast which has seperated from the pack to be the frontrunner. Wow.

You cannot publish a review on the best Irish whiskey and leave out midleton. It’s like reviewing orange root vegetables and leaving out carrots.
